Radiant Optics’ innovative heaters have been manufactured since 1985.

The key to our vast efficiency improvement is the IR Lens - which was developed and modeled from a lobster’s eye. This invention allows for the collecting and focusing of IR energy into a beam, just like a projector. Heaters with this lens can be placed further away from the target and still deliver more heat.

With the IR Lens, heat is delivered in a direct beam with distinct edges, meaning heat gets delivered exactly where you need it and it doesn’t get delivered where you don’t.

Roger Johnson, inventor of the lobster-eye lens, explains its innovative design.

The originator of the IR Lens, Radiant Optics Inc, manufactured gas and electric heaters from 1986-2009. Subsequently, Radiant Optics entered into a licensing agreement with a larger manufacturer, which has since ended. In 2019, the assets of the original company were purchased by Radiant Optics Mfg LLC. A new electric element was designed to provide a replacement option for the installed base of Radiant Optics’ Hot Zone Electric IR Heaters. In 2020, the electric and gas products lines were updated and reintroduced as the HeatProjector line.

HotZone IR Heaters have been installed throughout North America and Internationally. Applications include warehouses, restaurants, big-box retailers, golf driving ranges, ice skating rinks – anywhere where distance to target or energy efficiency is desired.
